About Me

Born and brought up in Yorkshire, I’ve also lived in Norfolk, Surrey and Scandinavia, before returning to my Yorkshire roots.

Starting to research my family history over 20 years ago, I’ve traced one branch of my Yorkshire ancestry back to the 1600s, but also discovered my family tree has branches reaching around Britain, including Cornwall, Northumberland, Oxfordshire, and Wales.

I have a lifelong interest in history, and have studied Scandinavian history as far back as the Vikings, as well as various aspects of British and European history at degree level. I have an Advanced Diploma in Local History from Oxford University, which included a special project on the inhabitants of a workhouse not far from where I live, using documents from the time and statistical analysis.

I worked for several years as a translator, which requires precision, attention to detail, and a wide range of knowledge. A bit like family history research!

With twenty years experience of family history research, both my own family and others, I’m looking forward to researching your family history for you.
